Often organizations attempt the redesign of services and processes as a typical process change program with small iterations of the new design being slowly implemented over a long period of time. What we generally find is these redesigns are “bent” to fit the old processes and in the final analysis the “new” service or process doesn’t look much different from the originals.
To “protect” news designs, maintain a deep focus on the new ideas, and ensure organizational “antibodies” don’t reject the new ideas, Launch has developed the Launch Laboratory Approach (L-Lab). In our L-Labs, cross-functional teams from the organization mixed with designers and developers work without interruption and with the required resources and technology to build the new services and processes. At the same time an Implementation Team (I-Team) works in parallel, linked to the legacy systems owners to ensure successful conversion plans are in place and conducted.
The L-Lab Approach has been used in various service and process projects, but has also been found very successful in designing products and technologies. |
