Cultural Issues in Managing Innovation

Managers involved in innovation activities face difficult issues like politics and power games, gaining buy-in from key stakeholders, overcoming conflicts with external partners and creating high-performance teams with people from diverse cultural and business backgrounds.

Quite often the reaction is what we call "work avoidance": The real hot topics behind difficult situations are not addressed because we don´t know how to do this without running into uncontrollable conflict and stress.

Below we listed some typical situations along the innovation process where managers likely run into challenging conflicts.

In this 1-day seminar we will explore around 3 specific situations brought forward by the participants to discuss frameworks and intervention techniques and how they can be applied to overcome stagnation.

A very powerful technique for dealing with hot cultural issues is "Issue-Oriented Improvisation". We will use this techniques actively to explore the selected situations. Other frameworks and techniques will be introduced and an overall intervention design will be presented.

Team Sessions give participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding through active discussion and knowledge sharing among peers.

Seminar design: The seminar design is highly interactive. We will use "Issue-Oriented Improvisation" to explore specific situations.
