Developed an innovation process and organization to ensure new concepts were being identified and developed to meet growth objectives. Also assisted in the design of an innovation center to facilitate idea generation and development.
Challenge: Printpack had depended on growth through acquisitions. It was clear to company ownership that new ideas from within the company needed to be part of the growth mix.
Solution: Launch and an Innovation Steering Team made up of executives from Printpack spent three months assessing the current state of innovation management at Printpack. Upon review of the assessment a plan for ensuring higher levels of innovation and growth was defined. This plan included enhancing the existing product development process by including more market sensing/research activities, closer linking business development/marketing to engineering efforts, implementing a stage gate process for better idea management, and ensuring executive oversight of innovation activities through the Innovation Steering Team.
Printpack has reinforced its reputation of industry innovator and is now managing a healthy portfolio of new technology and product ideas. Printpack is also teaching its unique approach to innovation management to other companies in the packaging industry. |
